Mindfulness and Dance Improvisation for Artists
Sunday, November 6
10:00am - 1:00pm
Instructor Yael Schweitzer
Come and Cultivate Mindfulness with movement improvisation and non-verbal communication for self-care, creativity, and deep connection to self and others.Mindfulness is defined as a moment-by-moment awareness of thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment, without judgment and with compassion and acceptance. Most traditional mindfulness meditations are done in stillness. Since stillness and movement are on opposite edges on the same continuum, they present two sides of the same coin, when we integrate movement and mindfulness, we create a wholeness that deepens, expands, and enriches the value and experience of both practices.
Through mindfulness practices and movement explorations you will connect with your authentic self and with others in the group. Participants will explore the relationship between self-expression and group demands and find creative solutions to navigate between the two. The deep listening to the body and to others yields improvisational movements, expressing mindfulness in motion - creating the dance of mindfulness. Come and learn how to be present and creative, embody your experiences and expression, and cultivate compassion for yourself and others. No previous experience in dance or mindfulness is needed.
